The former governor of Jammu and Kashmir during BJP’s era, Satyapl Malik has revealed some jaw-dropping facts about BJP’s blunder under the Modi administration regarding Kashmir, the Pulwama crisis, Kashmir, and the strategic culture formulated by RSS-sponsored nationalist elite. In an interview with Karan Thapar on The Wire, Malik came up with a revelation that would undoubtedly cause BJP to feel troubled amidst upcoming elections. When asked about the Pulwama incident, Malik admitted that the whole responsibility lies at the government’s end. CPRF had asked the home ministry under Rajnath Singh to provide them with Aircraft to move such a huge convoy. But Home Ministry instantly refused. Malik had asked PM, Modi, about the concerns of CPRF, but the higher authorities gave him the shut-up call. Secondly, regarding the security clearance of the route, Malik stresses the incident occurred because of policy failure from top to bottom. There were 8-10 routes joining the main route through which the convoy had to pass. No single route was manned to stop any security mismanagement. Not just the Home Ministry but National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval called Malik and asked him to remain silent. Afterward, the whole narrative was shifted against Pakistan for the political interests of the BJP. He admits that if the government wanted and Home Ministry could have responded to responsibility, Pulwama could be avoided. It is a huge intelligence failure on the government’s end as a car with 300Kg RDX kept on wandering in the region and no security agency could stop it to conduct this mishap.

Malik also revealed the dubious and ill-informed policies of the BJP regarding Kashmir. When Article 370 was abrogated, Malik, Governor at the time was not informed at all. Constitutionally, all power resided in the hands of the governor, and on the night of 4th August, Malik received a call from Delhi to pass the legislation from the assembly. Although, Malik did it, but he stays opposed to what is happening in Kashmir even after the abrogation. He says that Prime Minister Modi is the most ill-informed person when it comes to Kashmir. Making Jammu and Kashmir, a Union Territory has instigated hostile sentiments against Delhi. Malik himself had proposed to come to a resolution of the Kashmir issue to the PM, but no one was genuinely serious about legally resolving the matter with Pakistan. Even the Hurriyat leaders were moderate towards Satyapal Malik’s approach, but, there was no eagerness shown by Delhi to these leaders.

Moreover, Malik also unearthed that Modi does not hate corruption. When Malik revealed cases of corruption to the PM, his transfer was the ultimate result it ended with. He admitted that under the BJP government, India is no longer a democracy at all. There is no future for India without Muslims. Defenestrating them politically, socially, and economically will only result in India as a failed state. BJP is adopting heinous approaches to establish its all-out influence politically, ignoring some ground realities. For example, if BJP remains unable to come up with resolving its issues with the Adani group, the party will be banished from Indian politics for all. He said that BJP is not aware of Adani’s power and Rahul Gandhi is using the narrative very effectively against the government.

With all these revelations, Malik admitted that the center would not be happy with what he had unearthed today. He said, the truth should prevail and everyone must know the true face of the BJP. After Malik’s claims, families of Pulwama victims have come to the scene asking investigation of the matter. Congress is also pressurizing the government to produce a white paper with all the truths regarding the incident. Back in 2019, a terrorist attack killed 40 CPRF soldiers. As the whole responsibility lies at the government’s end, as revealed by Malik, no statement has so far been produced by Delhi in either support or in negation of the claims. BJP’s silence can be considered an affirmation of what Malik has accused it for. In the last Malik stressed that if the government tries to carry out any offensive against him, it will not be able to face the resistance that would come up from the public in support of Satyapal Malik. This can certainly cause a huge blow to BJP in the upcoming general elections in 2024. BJP has cashed the anti-Pakistan narrative in its election campaign and even the Pulwama incident was molded that way. But with such facts revealed, BJP has to first deconstruct it, then come up with some new agenda to seek public support. Otherwise, it will be very difficult for the party to seek out the majority, with effective counter from Congress and other parties.
