US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and US Energy Secretary Chris Wright have openly stated that the US permitted India to buy Russian oil. The statements by these two secretaries place the Hindutva government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a damning position. They reveal how far the Modi government has compromised Indian interests and surrendered Indian economic sovereignty to the US.

What to buy, when to buy, and where to buy—these decisions for India are effectively dictated by Washington. US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau constantly makes subtle hostile and anti-India statements, yet Modi and his ministers continue to appease Trump administration, prioritising American interests over those of India and its citizens. In the form of recommendations, the presidential executive order issued by Mr. Trump on February 6, 2026, threatens India’s economic and political sovereignty, undermining its ability to make independent decisions. Historically, US continues to pursue its anti Indian economic and foreign policy without showing any forms of friendly trajectory in policy and practice.

Hindutva politics is not suffering from Stockholm syndrome; rather, it has an insatiable appetite for the ideological apparatus of Yankee imperialism, getting inspired to use power to subjugate people, and control resources in the service of crony capitalism. As a child of British colonialism, Hindutva derives its ideological strength from the white supremacists of the US, UK, and Europe. There is no contradiction between Hindutva politics, imperialist strategies, and colonial practices at the present.

Hindutva sells certificates of patriotism at home by calling cows and the country as their mother. Anyone not following these dictates is branded as anti-national by Hindutva forces. Beef exporters such as the Allana Group donate huge amounts of money to the BJP. Beef-exporting companies like Al-Dua Food Processing Private Ltd are owned by BJP leaders. Hypocrisy defines Hindutva politics. In reality, whatever Hindutva calls its mother, it sells for profit. Business is at the core of Hindutva politics, which deepens crony capitalism in the country in the name of patriotism. Hindutva is not a patriotic force but a reactionary one that divides society along religious and caste lines to weaken India and its people. Hindtva defines hypocrisy and consistent with its historical legacies of cowardice.

From cows to the country itself, everything is under threat from Hindutva politics, which is selling the country’s sovereignty in the name of economic growth and development. In reality, only a few handpicked companies affiliated with the BJP leadership reap the benefits. In the name of free trade agreements with the US, Europe, and the UK, the Modi government has surrendered India’s economic sovereignty, jeopardising the future and livelihoods of the Indian people. The US, Europe, and the UK are not friends of India in terms of policy praxis. History shows that these countries have repeatedly backstabbed India and undermined Indian national interests at every step of its history and progress. These countries continue to pursue policies aimed at containing and weakening India’s rise. The Modi government is forming alliances in the name of trade and helping these forces undermine India and its progress.

Washington, London, and Brussels now decide the nature of the economic and foreign policies India can or cannot pursue. Such a surrender has never happened in India’s history. The Modi government is accelerating processes that weaken India and its economy because of the nature of the Hindutva politics pursued by the BJP-led government. The Modi government is acting like a subservient proxy agent of the American government, which has historically acted against India to undermine its growth and development. The US has historically shaped policies on tariffs, trade, technological embargoes, military actions, and sanctions to weaken India. The US has never been a trusted ally of India’s development.

The unholy alliance between Hindutva, American imperialism, and capitalism threatens the lives and livelihoods of working people worldwide, as this troika seeks to strengthen undemocratic forces to ensure the survival of crony capitalism in various forms that exploit both people and the planet. It serves neither the interests of the American people nor those of Indians. Therefore, united resistance to such an alliance of profiteering is fundamental for the democracy, peace, and prosperity of people across the globe.
