Imran Khan has nominated Omar Ayub as the candidate for the interim Prime Minister(PM). PTI leader Asad Qaiser announced the decision after meeting the former Prime Minister outside the Adiala jail in Rawalpindi on Thursday.

A day earlier PTI leaders had sought permission from the Islamabad High Court to meet Imran Khan to discuss political matters.

Following the elections, none of the major political parties managed to secure a simple majority in the assembly. PTI-backed independent candidates are leading the tally in the National Assembly with 92 seats.

Meanwhile, PTI claims they have won 180 seats in the assembly and are in a strong position to create their government. They, however, claimed that their strength in the elections has been deliberately reduced through rigging and results manipulation.

As per media reports, PPP and JUI-F seek to ally with PTI to create the central and provincial government. Talking to Asad Qaiser said, Imran Khan has nominated the General Secretary of PTI, Omar Ayub for the post of interim Prime Minister. Ayub has been in hiding since the 9th May riots.

“Secondly, every child knows about the rigging that took place in the elections and how our mandate was stolen […] regarding this, Khan sahib will give a date for nationwide protests by evening,” Qaiser said.

According to Qaiser, Khan has tasked him to engage with the political parties protesting against the election results.

“We want to form a strategy together because these were the worst elections in the history of Pakistan,” the PTI leader said, alleging that the Feb 8 polls had no credibility both locally and internationally.

“Therefore, we have decided that we will protest against this [elections] across the country and I will myself reach out to political parties for this purpose,” Qaiser added.

He categorically asserted that PTI-backed candidates would sit in the parliament and will not resign in any condition.
