Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), asserted that all pending cases against him would be dropped if he yielded to the influential authorities, implying a veiled message directed at him. These remarks were made during a conversation with journalists at Adiala jail after a court hearing on Friday, as reported by The News.

Khan disclosed that he had received a message regarding exposing the “cipher conspiracy,” the case that led to his imprisonment in August 2023. He went on to criticize the caretaker government for its lack of neutrality and deemed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) practically ineffective.

The former prime minister highlighted the closure of Toshakhana cases involving Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari, mentioning that Maryam Nawaz had received a BMW from Toshakhana without declaring it, yet her case had been resolved. Khan also pointed out that NAB withdrew from the Panama case involving Maryam’s four flats. He criticized the selective closure of cases against those who conduct press conferences, contrasting it with the persecution of candidates like Amjad Khan and Sadaqat Abbasi, who were prevented from submitting their nomination papers.

Khan expressed frustration over being implicated in over 200 criminal cases, a historical record in the country. He argued that there is no rule of law, hindering the progress of the nation. Emphasizing PTI’s struggle as a movement for real independence and democracy, he stressed the importance of bringing the powerful under the law and providing rights to the marginalized segments of society.

Insisting that the country is under a “law of the jungle,” Khan claimed that he was illegally arrested on May 9 and lamented the unprecedented victimization of PTI compared to other political parties. Commenting on the plight of the Palestinian people, Khan condemned the ongoing genocide they were facing, highlighting the severity of the atrocities being committed against them with no parallel in the world.
