Recently, Neeshaz Wazid’s father, Dr. Mohammed Wazid, a Bangladeshi-born Australian, Medical practitioner in Adelaide, Australia, bought the South Asia Journal Book (SAJ)’s recently published book, “Bangladesh’s Seven Governing Periods, 1972-2022..” to read.

Dr. Wazid’s 14-year-old Year-10 son, Neeshaz was born and brought up in Australia. As is customary, Neeshaz would often join some of the expatriate Bangladeshi social gatherings that his parents would take him to.

In these gatherings, Neeshaz has had the privilege of listening to engaging and at times, acrimonious debates on Bangladesh. In the process, Neeshaz nurtured in him, a keen interest to learn about Bangladesh, the country where his parents were born, grew up, and came from, and a country that appeared to him to be a place that inspires and disappoints, at the same time. His Bangladeshi ancestry and his exposure to discussions on Bangladesh always intrigued Neeshaz and prompted him to learn in-depth about the country of his parents, Bangladesh.

Therefore, when Neeshaz saw the book, “Bangladesh’s Seven Governing Periods, 1972-2022..” in his father’s possession, he decided to read the book at the earliest opportunity. Thus, he borrowed the book from his father and read it with great interest.

Neeshaz appreciated the book so much that he decided to write his impressions of it which he did and shared with his father, with no intention of making these impressions public.

However, it so happened that Neeshaz’s cryptic, yet insightful impression of the book reached the publisher of the SAJ. The publisher thought it was rather rare that a Year-10 school kid would read and write his impression of a book that dealt with a subject, Bangladesh, a country to which he is connected only genetically and maybe, marginally emotionally, and someone who read the book with so much interest and passion and evaluated it so objectively and did so with such an uncorrupted mind, that these impressions deserved to be published and shared widely.

Neeshaz’s Impressions:

“As an Australian of Bangladeshi descent, this book has been a game-changer in my quest to understand the intricate political history of Bangladesh.

Authored by M. Adil Khan, the book, “Bangladesh’s Seven Governing Periods, 1972-2022…” has proven to be a valuable source that unravels the political history of Bangladesh.

The author’s unbiased approach and clear explanations have made this exploration enlightening and extremely engaging.

The book gave me an in-depth understanding of each political leader and how their leadership helped shape Bangladesh.

To me, this book which is a must for those looking to learn about Bangladesh’s political history has been an enriching read offering comprehensive insight into Bangladesh’s political history. “

Kudos to Neeshaz for reading the book so passionately and writing such an insightful assessment of the book. Neshaaz’s impression of the book has been published and shared with his/his father’s assent.
