PositionTitle: Assistant Editor, South Asia Journal
South Asia Journal seeks several Assistant Editors for daily posts in the website and also for the quarterly print issue of the magazine covering South Asian strategic, political and economic issues. The ideal person will have some online publishing experience, with an interest and background in the affairs of South Asia and the adjacent areas that affect the region. It is a voluntary position and you can participate from your home at your time of convenience via internet.
Responsibilities include managing some aspects of South Asia Journal’s content production, including copyediting and online dissemination; providing editorial oversight for SAJ’s network of freelance authors and contributors, commissioning and editing occasional papers related to South Asia; organizing conferences and event planning if suitable conditions permit; managing social media, conducting outreach activities and building SAJ’s readership base; drafting donor correspondence and aiding the Publisher in development activities for the magazine; arranging media interviews.
Qualifications:
Any students pursuing or already have BA, MA or PhD in Political Science, Asian/South Asian Studies, International Studies or related field. A background in publishing and editing; familiarity with online publishing, WordPress and web design a plus.
