Tensions between India and Pakistan have long shaped South Asia’s geopolitical landscape, but recent revelations about India’s covert activities along the Line of Control (LoC) signal a dangerous shift. Reports indicate a sustained campaign of misinformation, sabotage, and clandestine warfare targeting the peaceful regions of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan. From planting Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to orchestrating false flag operations, India’s aggressive tactics pose a direct threat to regional stability. With growing concerns about its role in subversive activities beyond South Asia—including in Canada, the US, the UK, and Australia—it is imperative that the international community acknowledges the gravity of India’s actions and their far-reaching consequences.
India has a long history of violating ceasefire agreements along the LoC, frequently resorting to unprovoked firing on civilian populations. These actions, far from being mere border skirmishes, appear to be calculated attempts to escalate tensions while inflicting human and material losses on the Pakistani side. The recent targeting of civilians in areas such as Chakothi, Neza Pir, and Battal underscores this reality. More alarmingly, reports indicate that Indian forces have been planting IEDs along the LoC since at least 2016, with 54 documented incidents to date. The discovery of multiple IEDs in February 2025, resulting in the martyrdom of innocent civilians, highlights the dangers posed by such underhanded tactics. By employing these methods, India is actively sabotaging peace efforts while endangering the lives of unarmed civilians.
India’s clandestine operations go beyond physical attacks. There have been multiple instances of Indian forces staging fake encounters to create false narratives about Pakistani military involvement. Such staged incidents serve as a convenient smokescreen to cover up India’s internal failures in occupied Kashmir, where local resistance continues to challenge Indian occupation despite brutal suppression tactics.
Recent revelations also expose Indian military personnel’s involvement in smuggling arms, drugs, and illicit funds across the LoC. Units such as 3 Rajputs and 12 Jats have reportedly been implicated in these activities, with officers facing internal disciplinary actions. However, these acts are not merely rogue operations by corrupt individuals; rather, they point to a deeper nexus between elements within the Indian military, intelligence agencies, and organized crime syndicates. India has also been using double agents to smuggle weapons across the border, later framing them as Pakistani operatives. This tactic serves two objectives: first, to create false evidence of Pakistani involvement in cross-border terrorism, and second, to eliminate those same individuals through staged encounters, allowing India to claim financial rewards and international legitimacy. The exposure of an Indian soldier attempting to hide a weapons cache in 2022, followed by his execution by a local civilian, exemplifies the extent of these covert operations. Such incidents raise serious questions about India’s commitment to regional peace and security.
Beyond its external provocations, India’s military is grappling with internal dissent and declining morale. Reports of increasing suicides within the Indian Armed Forces indicate a troubling trend. The pressure of suppressing Kashmiri resistance, combined with corruption and poor leadership, has led to growing frustration among Indian soldiers. To cover up these issues, Indian military investigations often mislabel suicides as casualties from cross-border firing, thereby avoiding scrutiny. Meanwhile, India’s brutal repression in occupied Kashmir continues unabated. Thousands of Kashmiri civilians face arbitrary arrests, property seizures, and restrictions on fundamental rights. The Indian government’s attempts to alter the demographic composition of the region by settling non-Kashmiris further violate international norms and expose the fallacy of India’s democratic claims.
India’s subversive activities are not confined to its borders. Recent evidence has linked Indian intelligence agencies to targeted killings and assassination attempts in Western countries. The murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada and the foiled conspiracy to kill Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in the US highlight India’s growing reliance on extrajudicial tactics to silence dissenting voices abroad. These incidents have raised alarms within global intelligence circles, with Canada and the US publicly condemning India’s involvement in transnational repression. Such actions not only undermine international law but also expose India’s duplicity—while it accuses others of fostering instability, it is actively engaged in subversive activities worldwide.
India’s provocations along the LoC must also be understood in the context of its broader geopolitical ambitions. As Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares for high-profile diplomatic visits, including to the United States, India seeks to portray Pakistan as a supporter of terrorism. By orchestrating false flag operations and feeding misinformation to global media, India hopes to shift attention away from its own human rights violations and domestic turmoil. However, such tactics are unlikely to succeed in the long run. Pakistan has already presented credible evidence of India’s subversive activities to UN officials and continues to highlight these violations on international platforms. The reality is that India’s aggressive posturing and covert operations risk escalating tensions in the region, pushing South Asia closer to a dangerous confrontation.
India must recognize that its actions along the LoC are not only destabilizing but also counterproductive. Pakistan possesses both the capability and the resolve to respond in kind if provoked further. However, Islamabad has consistently prioritized diplomatic engagement over military escalation, seeking peaceful resolutions to disputes rather than confrontation. The international community, particularly organizations such as the United Nations, must take a firm stance against India’s violations. Mere condemnations are insufficient; concrete actions—such as independent investigations into ceasefire violations and subversive activities—are necessary to hold India accountable.
Furthermore, regional stability demands that India abandon its reckless strategy of covert warfare. Instead of fueling unrest in AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan, New Delhi should focus on addressing its internal crises, including rising communal violence, political unrest, and military discontent. A peaceful and stable South Asia is in everyone’s interest, and India must play a responsible role rather than acting as a regional disruptor.
India’s continued violations of the ceasefire agreement, covert operations along the LoC, and involvement in global subversive activities are a direct threat to regional and global stability. While Pakistan remains committed to peace, it will not hesitate to defend its sovereignty against any aggression. The world must recognize India’s dangerous trajectory and take decisive action before these provocations escalate into a full-scale crisis. The responsibility lies not just with India but with the global community—to ensure that justice prevails and that peace in South Asia is not compromised by reckless ambition.
