Indian and Chinese military were engaged in a brief face-off in Tawang sector of north eastern Indian state Arunachal Pradesh last week, the Indian media reported today.
The standoff between the two nuclear-armed countries near Yangtze river of China was resolved through talks between local commanders of the two armies as per established protocols, the reports said quoting “people familiar with the development.”
The skirmish between the troops of India and China took place after a Chinese patrol tried to enter Indian territory and the troops of China’s People’s Liberation Army were pushed back, reports our New Delhi correspondent.
The incident came a few days before India and China held a fresh round of military-level talks on eastern Ladakh where the armies of the two countries are embroiled in a tense standoff for nearly one and half years.
Sources requesting anonymity told media that both sides undertake patrolling activities up to their line of perception and whenever the troops come face-to-face, the situation is managed according to established protocols.
“Physical engagement can last for a few hours prior to disengaging as per mutual understanding. However, there has been no damage to defences,” said the sources.
