Government officials, lawmakers, business leaders, entrepreneurs and prominent Indian Americans were among guests invited to last night’s state dinner hosted by President Biden for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. More than 380 guests attended the lavish event.

There were at least seven billionaires, including Apple CEO Tim Cook; Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, the richest Indian; Mahindra & Mahindra conglomerate chairman Anand Mahindra, and brokerage firm founder Nikhil Kamath.

Among the bold faces Top Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin was spotted with her sister, Heba Abedin, a social media and PR consultant; Martin Luther King III and Arndrea Waters King, Billie Jean King, Ralph Lauren,

Notables among public intellectuals were authors Anand Giridharadas, and Abraham Varghese, New York Times columnist Thomas L. Friedman, and Washington Post columnist David Ignatius.

Several dishes feature millets, as the United Nations has declared 2023 the International Year of Millets, recognizing the grain’s environmental sustainability. The menu included a first course of marinated millet and grilled corn kernel salad with compressed watermelon and a main course of stuffed portobello mushrooms and saffron-infused risotto. A rose and cardamom-infused strawberry shortcake was served for dessert.
