In a discussion where they revealed important concessions and agreements reached at their meeting with the RSS Sarsanghchalak, which have so far not been made public in earlier interviews, Najeeb Jung and S. Y. Quraishi said that the RSS Sarsanghchalak has accepted that muslim citizens of India are not to be called Hindu Muslims but Indian Muslims.

Najeeb Jung was clear and explicit about this. This is a significant change from what the Sarsanghchalak said in September 2021 when, according to PTI, he said: “The word Hindu is equivalent to the rich heritage of our motherland, ancestors and culture and every Indian is a Hindu.” Separately, S. Y. Quraishi, the author of a well-received book on India’s population called ‘The Population Myth’, says he got the clear impression that the Sarsanghchalak has also accepted that it’s both impossible for India’s Muslims to grow in size and dominate Hindus and that they do not seek to do so either.

If so, this is significantly different to what the Sarsanghchalak said in July 2021 when he, according to The Hindu, said: “There have been organized attempts to increase the muslim population since 1930 … for the community to become a dominant force.”
