New Delhi: As a night of protest wound to a wrap in the capital with the detention of Chandra Shekhar Aazad from Jama Masjid at around 4 am, Saturday brings fresh waves of anti-Citizenship Amendment Act protests in the national capital and across the country.

The protesters marching towards Jantar Mantar from Jama Masjid had been stopped by police and paramilitary personnel near Delhi Gate. On Friday evening, Daryaganj was witness to police lathicharge which led to grievous injuries among several protesters.

Not just in the capital, protests continued unabated in many parts of the country, including Uttar Pradesh, where 11 protesters were killed. One of them was an eight-year-old boy.

In Madhya Pradesh, curfew was imposed in parts of Jabalpur city, while internet was suspended for six hours in the capital city of Bhopal. As many as 35 protesters were arrested on charges of stone pelting. Twenty police personnel were allegedly injured.

Twenty people were detained and 130 booked in Hingoli district in Marathawada region of Maharashtra for allegedly damaging public property.
